How can I apply?

For mid-career recruitment, please review the positions currently open and proceed to the application form for the position you would like to apply for.

Please note that recruitment status and application periods vary depending on the timing.

What information is required when applying?

For mid-career recruitment, you will need to submit your name, contact information, documents showing your work history (resume and curriculum vitae), and information on qualifications/current annual income/disabilities, etc. (as needed) through the application form.

For new graduate recruitment, we ask for basic information such as your name and contact information at the time of entry. We may also ask you to submit information about your experience and strengths during the selection process.

What should I do if I am unsure which position to apply for?

Mid-career candidates can apply for multiple positions. If you wish to do so, please apply for the position you are most interested in and list the names of the other positions you would like to apply for in the remarks field.

Can I apply for multiple positions at the same time?

If you are a new graduate, yes. Candidates will go through the selection process separately for each position, and they will be asked to select their preferred course before receiving an informal offer.
*However, you cannot apply for both Business Consultant and Product Planner. Please select one of the two.

Mid-career candidates cannot apply for multiple positions at the same time. If they do, they will be asked to narrow their selection down to one, so please refrain from applying for multiple positions.
However, even if you apply for one position, we will consider you for all positions that are currently open as of the document screening stage.

Is there an age limit for applying?

No, there is no age limit. However, please note that where you should apply differs depending on your background, such as new graduate recruitment or mid-career recruitment. Please check each job description for specific application requirements.

Does educational background matter for jobs at LY Corporation?

No. At LY Corporation, we have employees with all sorts of academic backgrounds, including those who graduated from technical colleges, vocational schools, and/or university (with a bachelor’s, master’s, and/or doctorate degree).

What level of technical ability or skills is required to apply?

For mid-career engineer recruitment, the required technical ability and skill level differ by position. Please check the individual application requirements for details.
For new graduate engineer recruitment, the coding test, which is the first selection step, serves as one benchmark. You can take the coding test multiple times through the Re-Challenge system, so we encourage you to use it as an opportunity to understand the required technical ability and skill level. What language proficiency (e.g. English or Korean) is required? Also, can foreign nationals apply for a position?

The required language proficiency depends on the position, but foreign nationals are also eligible for employment in all positions. Please refer to the job details section for each role.
In addition, our in-house text communication tool has a function that can automatically translate Japanese, English, and Korean so that all employees, regardless of nationality or language ability, can demonstrate their performance. For messages sent and events held for all employees, translations and interpretations are provided in Japanese, English, and Korean. We also offer language courses to improve language skills for work.

I can only speak English. Are there any positions I can apply for?

Specific requirements for communication language skills and levels differ depending on the application requirements for each position.

Please note that even positions available to view in English may require Japanese communication skills, so please check the requirements listed in the individual application requirements for details.

Can I apply for a position from overseas? Also, do I have to speak in Japanese at the interview?

Yes, people residing overseas can apply for a position at LY Corporation. Regardless of whether you live in Japan or not, our policy is to conduct all interviews online.
Furthermore, the candidate or interviewer may request for the interview to be held with an interpreter to interpret in Japanese, English, and/or Korean.
*However, depending on the position, you may be asked to take an online test that may only be available in Japanese.
*If you reside in Japan, you may be asked to come to our office for an interview depending on the content of the interview, the social environment, or other factors.

How long does the visa procedure required before joining take?

We have a specialized organization that supports visa procedures for employees with foreign nationality. Because the application period differs depending on nationality, background, and other factors, we cannot provide a uniform answer. Please contact the recruiter after receiving an offer for specific procedures.

Do you hire people with disabilities?

Yes, people with disabilities are eligible to apply for all our positions as we recruit based on the criteria that candidates empathize with our mission and are willing to take on challenges with us. Please refer to our Those with Disabilities page for more information.

What kinds of questions will be asked during interviews?

We unfortunately cannot provide any information about the details of the selection process beyond what the recruiter has provided in advance.
In interviews, we generally ask about your experience, skills, preferences, and fit with LY Corporation and the position you are applying for, with the aim of mutual understanding. Please organize your experience, achievements, and what you would like to take on in the future, and join the interview in a relaxed manner.

Can I use AI (artificial intelligence) for selection assignments?

Whether AI can be used for assignments conducted during selection will be announced separately at each selection step. Please check the information provided for each selection step for details.

Can you tell me the reason behind your decision or what the selection criteria is?

Regardless of whether you were successful or not, we unfortunately cannot provide details on the selection process/criteria or the reason for the outcome you received.

I've applied for a position in the past. Can I apply for the same position again?

Aside from engineering candidates eligible for the Re-Challenge system, new graduates will not be able to apply for the same position again if the start date is within the same year. However, you can apply for positions that start from the next year.

Although mid-career candidates can reapply, some positions require applicants to wait six months before they can try again. The recruiter will let you know if you are eligible to reapply.

Can I choose my assigned department? How is it decided?

For mid-career recruitment, assignments are decided during the selection process, and the expected organization and work location will be communicated at the informal offer or offer stage. For new graduate recruitment, applicants apply after selecting their preferred job type or course during selection.
Assignment areas and organizations are decided based on a comprehensive review of information from selection, post-joining training, company circumstances, and other factors. After joining, employees can also request transfers through the internal recruitment system.

Is there anything I should prepare before joining?

As part of joining procedures, you may be asked to respond to information submission forms and prepare and submit required documents such as a resume and certificate of residence. The recruiter will provide information on joining procedure details and schedules as needed. For advance learning and preparation to catch up on work, please contact the recruiter or relevant employees, as this differs by position.

I have work experience as a full-time employee. Can I apply for new graduate recruitment?

Because LY Corporation’s eligibility requirement for new graduate recruitment is “people with no work experience as a full-time employee,” you cannot apply.
Please consider applying through mid-career recruitment based on your work experience as a full-time employee after graduation.
There may also be recruitment slots for second new graduates who are within three years of starting work, so please check the job information for new graduate recruitment and mid-career recruitment.

I have entrepreneurial experience. Can I apply for new graduate recruitment?

Because the eligibility requirement for new graduate recruitment is “people with no work experience as a full-time employee,” you can apply if you meet this requirement even if you have entrepreneurial experience.

If I'll be graduating in March, can I join the company in October?

Generally, new graduates will join in the first April or October following their graduation. You may not be able to join at the specific timing you like since we need around two to three months to prepare for your onboarding. During the selection stage, feel free to ask your recruiter if you have any questions.

What kinds of experiences should I gain while I am a student?

Details differ depending on the position. On LY Corporation Recruitment note, current employees active in various fields share information about their day-to-day work and what they keep in mind. Please refer to articles related to positions you are interested in.

If I decline an offer received as an undergraduate, will I receive preferential treatment during selection when I complete my master’s degree?
Can selection results, including offers, be carried over to the following year?

There is no preferential treatment as a system. In principle, past evaluation details and pass/fail results are not carried over as is. However, in accordance with LY Corporation’s recruitment privacy policy, we may refer to past selection information to the extent traceable. Depending on the details, some form of special handling may be considered. Please contact the recruiter for details.

Do you offer internships for new graduates?

Internships usually run between April and September each year, so you can find announcements on the new graduate recruitment page when applications open.

Will participating in an internship give me an advantage in recruitment selection?

We value internships as opportunities for students and workplaces to deepen mutual understanding, and if both sides feel there is a match, participants can proceed directly to recruitment selection. However, participation itself will not work to your advantage or disadvantage in selection. Details on how participation relates to selection may differ depending on the job category or program, so please check each internship recruitment page for details.

If I applied for an internship in the past, can I still apply for a position as a new graduate?

Yes, you can apply as a new graduate regardless of whether you previously applied for an internship and whether or not you were accepted.

Working Style and Environment

Are there any restrictions or rules on where I can live?

There are no rules on where you can live. Office attendance rules differ depending on your assigned organization, but as working at the office at least three days a week is the standard working style, you must be able to commute to the designated work location without difficulty.
Commuting allowance is paid based on the actual transportation costs incurred for the number of days you come to your assigned office, up to JPY 150,000 per month.

Which offices can I work at?

You can work at the head office and other company offices.

Can I choose which office to work at?
Also, can I work at offices nationwide?

You cannot freely choose your work location from offices nationwide. At LY Corporation, each organization designates the office and floor where employees work, so in principle, you will work at the designated location.

Can I work somewhere other than the office or my home?

Office attendance rules differ depending on your assigned organization, but we have adopted a working style that combines remote work with office attendance at least three days a week as the standard.
For remote work, there are information security restrictions on work locations. If you work somewhere other than your home, you can only work in an “approved private-room environment.” Please note that cafes, public spaces, and similar locations are not covered. Details will be provided after you join.

Can I work remotely from overseas?

Yes, if you meet certain conditions and apply in advance. However, this does not mean that fully remote work is permitted, and strict rules apply, such as “mandatory office attendance on designated days” and “no more than 31 consecutive days.”
There are also conditions related to eligible countries, communication environments, and other factors, so please ask during the selection process for details. Please note that the system may change without notice.

Can I commute by airplane or Shinkansen?

Yes, commuting by Shinkansen or airplane is possible if you meet the conditions and receive prior application approval. Commuting allowance is paid based on the actual transportation costs incurred for the number of days you come to your assigned office, up to JPY 150,000 per month.

Will I be transferred?

Depending on business or organizational circumstances, or your career development, you may be asked to transfer to a location that requires relocation. This does not happen frequently, but there is not zero possibility of a transfer in the future.

Are there jobs that involve being stationed overseas?

All LY Corporation offices are in Japan, but the Group also has offices in Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, and other countries and regions, and you may be assigned to an overseas office depending on your work. We also have allowances related to overseas assignments, such as unaccompanied assignment allowance and relocation travel expenses.
You may also travel to overseas offices for business trips to collaborate with global offices.

Will I be provided with a PC for work?

The company will provide you with a PC for work. Information about this will be provided before you join. Other devices needed for work can be used after you join by applying as needed.

What are the specifications of the provided PC? Can I choose the model?

PCs are provided with specifications configured according to business needs. You can choose Windows or Mac depending on your work.

What is the technology stack for engineers?

For information related to engineers and technology, including the technology stack for engineers, as well as information related to design, please refer to the Technology & Design page on our website.

Are there any rules on dress or hairstyles?

No, we do not have a dress code. You are free to dress or style your hair in whichever way makes it easiest for you to do your work. However, please keep in mind that some departments or occasions (e.g. when meeting clients) will require certain standards.

Can I work a side job?

Yes, as long as you have gotten prior approval from your supervisor and the appropriate departments. You can continue building up your experience and skills even outside the company. Make sure to always follow our rules though: you cannot let your side job interfere with your job at LY Corporation, nor can you use the company’s name or assets in any capacity, or divulge our tech and know-how.

Employee Benefits and HR Systems

What kind of training will I get after joining the company?

We offer group training over a certain amount of time for our new graduate employees. The actual training will differ depending on your job type.
Mid-career employees will mainly get on-the-job training (OJT) directly from their department or team but we also offer more general courses aimed at everyone.

What are the details and duration of training for new graduate employees?

New graduate employees are scheduled to receive group training over a certain period after joining. For employees joining in FY2026, the training included the following.

Common training for all job types (about three weeks)
・Basic businessperson training
・LY Corporation business overview
・AI training
・Dev Challenge (hackathon)
・Cross-job networking among peers

After common training for all job types ends, training differs depending on the job type and assigned organization. For engineers, we offer about two months of team development exercises.

Are internal study sessions held?

In addition to level-specific training for managers, new employees, and others, we offer a variety of learning opportunities such as mandatory and optional training aimed at maximizing individual performance, language training, and e-learning.
For AI utilization in particular, we support safe and effective use through mandatory e-learning, study sessions, seminars, and other programs for all employees. Workshops on practical themes are also held for technical roles, with specific technical knowledge shared in a security-conscious environment.
Many study sessions, lightning talk events, and other programs are also planned and held by volunteer employees and departments.

Do you offer support for acquiring qualifications or purchasing books?

As language training, we offer English, Korean, and Japanese training fully paid for by the company. We also have a system to support employees pursuing doctoral degrees while working, including tuition assistance and support for securing study time. Many employees have actually earned doctoral degrees while working at the company.
There are no company-wide systems for qualification acquisition support or book purchase support. However, some organizations may provide support at their own discretion. Please check during the selection process for details.

Can anyone receive language support?

Language training is provided for employees who need language skills for their work. Participants can learn according to their own level and acquire language skills they can use in their work.

Are there examples of new graduate employees being selected for major roles or promoted quickly?

At LY Corporation, output and ability are valued regardless of years of experience, and there is a culture where new graduate employees can take on responsibility and play active roles early on. Examples include a planning employee who served as the project leader for a large-scale project in their first year after joining as a new graduate, and an engineer who led a major development project immediately after being assigned.
We evaluate each employee’s skills and experience and provide an environment where they can grow early by making use of their expertise in specific job types and courses.

How do internal transfers work?

Will I be assigned or transferred to other services or departments after joining?

After joining, employees have opportunities to transfer to other services or departments through the internal recruitment system. The company may also order transfers due to changes in business policy, reviews of organizational structures, optimization of personnel allocation, and other factors.

When and how many days of paid leave are granted?

Annual paid leave is granted all at once on April 1 every year.
For full-time employees, 12 to three days are granted on the joining date in the first year depending on the month of joining (April to the following March). From the following fiscal year onward, up to 20 days are granted depending on years of service and the attendance rate in the previous fiscal year (80% or higher).

What initiatives are you taking to build a diverse workplace environment?

Based on “LINE Yahoo DE&I Basic Approach,” we are creating an environment where each employee can perform well regardless of their attributes or life stage. We provide support for balancing work with childcare, nursing care, medical treatment, and fertility treatment; promote employment and active participation of employees with disabilities; offer development support for women managers to promote gender equity; promote understanding of LGBTQ and other sexual minorities and expand application of employee benefits; and provide support for foreign national employees through a specialized organization.
