Backend Engineer / LINE Creators Market

Job Summary

Team members in this position are responsible for leading the back-end development and operation of the creator-focused services for the sticker, emoji, and theme features.
You will develop various creator-focused features, including the registration and sale of stickers, themes, and emojis, as well as related review processes and sales management.
Additionally, you will contribute to designing and developing a flexible service architecture that enables creators to seamlessly offer a diverse range of products.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and operate services in both Kotlin and Perl environments. While promoting new development using Kotlin, facilitate migration from Perl to Kotlin as needed when modifying existing features.
  • Lead the development of back-end services for user-facing features.
  • Design architectures that enhance efficiency and flexibility.
  • Design and develop services that maintain high standards of availability, reliability, and fault tolerance.
  • Support team members in software implementation and operational best practices.
  • Collaborate with other teams and actively participate in code reviews and design reviews to support high-quality implementation.

A platform that allows users to create and sell stickers, emoji, and themes on "LINE". Anyone with a LINE account can participate, regardless profession, or whether they're an individual or a business.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of server-side application development experience.
  • Experience and skills in issue handling and incident response.
  • Knowledge of and experience using scalable data storage technology such as MySQL.
  • Fundamental computer science knowledge.
  • Business level verbal communication skills in Japanese or English.
  • Business level written communication skills in English.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • JVM application tuning and monitoring.
  • Development experience with Kotlin
  • Experience in the coaching, management and/or leadership of a technical team.
  • Kubernetes-based application development.

Salary

Expected annual salary: JPY 9,000,000 to JPY 14,000,000
Form of salary: Monthly salary (including fixed overtime allowance)
Standard monthly salary: JPY 600,000 to JPY 932,000

 ―Base salary: JPY 465,000 to JPY 725,000
 ―Fixed overtime allowance: JPY 134,000 to JPY 208,000

Fixed overtime allowance of 35 hours will be provided, regardless of whether overtime work is performed.
 Note 1: Overtime allowance is paid separately for overtime work in excess of the fixed 35 hours.
 Note 2: Names of items related to monthly salary vary depending on the grades.
 Bonuses are granted a maximum of two times a year. The amount is determined by factors including the company's and your department's performance.

*1 You will be paid for the number of days you actually came to the office. (Maximum of JPY150,000/month)

Work Location

Hakata Office (Hakata Fukami Park Bldg, 4-14-1 Hakata-Ekimae, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka)

*You may be required to report to your assigned office based on business instructions. The office assigned to you at the time of employment will be your initial office. Afterward, you may be reassigned to any business location determined by the company.
*The offices are wheelchair accessible.
*Note on measures against passive smoking: In general, smoking is prohibited indoors; however, designated smoking rooms are available.

Work Hours

  • Flextime system: standard work hours 7 hours 45 minutes (no core hours)
    • Start and end times are up to the individual. However, the company's standard working hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
  • Shortened working hours are available for childcare and caregiving purposes. 

*Some departments may operate on the standard work hours (9:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m.), while others may have a shift schedule.

Holidays and Leave

  • Days Off: Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays*1), national holidays, New Year's holiday (December 29 to January 4)

  • Leave: Paid leave, special paid leave (for condolence, maternity, sick childcare, nursing care, legally-designated communicable disease, etc.), Happy Friday*2, sabbatical leave

*1 May differ depending on department.
*2 When a public holiday falls on a Saturday, employees will be given the previous business day off.
