Customer Reliability Engineer / LINE Platform

Job Summary

As a Customer Reliability Engineer, you will be fully responsible for investigation and support of the technical problems that concern the users of the Messaging Platform.

Holding deep domain knowledge and strong technical skills, you will be responsible for solving issues for internal and internal users of the Messaging Platform.

Mission & Goals

  • Joining the existing CRE team, you will be learning first-hand domain knowledge and soon be handling all kind of user information.
  • As the CRE team grows, you will prepare documents for new members and teach them.
  • With the motto "DevOps separation", you will strive to reach a state where no developer of the platform need to handle private information.
  • Your role is to optimize for the satisfaction of our users and clients, and to provide this high quality service, you will also have to organize accessible documentation and deal with urgent inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Technical support of regular CS related operations
    • Investigation and troubleshooting
    • Extraction of data for Disclosure Requests
  • Technical support of internal users (QA, Dev, Plan) in the context of Messaging Platform
  • QA for the related data disclosure tools
  • Periodic report of common CS issues and trends to the development team, in the form of measurable KPIs
  • There is no development involved, but automation of your daily work is encouraged
  • There is no expected operations on production servers (a different team exists for it)

*Scope of Change: There is a possibility of reassignment to any duties as determined by the company.

Ideal Candidate

  • People who can view Platform Engineering from a customer perspective and are interested in creation of value and problem solving
  • People who are data-focused and can be a link between technical and non-technical departments in order to discover and solve technical issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in development of a product using frameworks like SpringBoot, and understanding programming done in JVM languages or C/C++ (over 1~2 years)
  • Understanding and experience in using SQL
  • Knowledge of the basics of encryption
  • As a person in charge of a product or a system
    • having the attitude to face and solve technical and organizational problems
    • having the motivation to own new proposals and drive their implementation in both technical and non-technical environment
  • Business level English 
  • Japanese proficiency (sufficient for text-based communication on tools like Confluence and Slack, around N2 to N3 level)

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience in development or operation of a BtoC platform
  • Experience in platform engineering or even CRE itself
  • Ability to engage in text-based communication in Japanese or Korean with internal and external developers, PMs, QAs, and non-technical staff using tools like k. Experience in exchanging technical documents is also required.
  • Experience with tooling and APIs related to Confluence/JIRA, Tableau, Box, PagerDuty
  • Experience querying big data using interfaces likes Hive or Spark
  • Having done support on-call
  • Understanding of privacy laws and regulations

Salary

Expected annual salary: JPY 6,000,000 to JPY 10,000,000
Form of salary: Monthly salary (including fixed overtime allowance)
Standard monthly salary: JPY 400,000 to JPY 667,000

 ―Base salary: JPY 309,000 to JPY 518,000
 ―Fixed overtime allowance: JPY 90,000 to JPY 150,000

Fixed overtime allowance of 35 hours will be provided, regardless of whether overtime work is performed.
 Note 1: Overtime allowance is paid separately for overtime work in excess of the fixed 35 hours.
 Note 2: Names of items related to monthly salary vary depending on the grades.
 Bonuses are granted a maximum of two times a year. The amount is determined by factors including the company's and your department's performance.

*1 You will be paid for the number of days you actually came to the office. (Maximum of JPY150,000/month)
*2 Allowance to improve your remote work environment (JPY11,000/month)

Type of employment: permanent employee (no fixed period of employment, 3-month trial period)

Work Location

Kioicho Office (Kioi Tower, 1-3 Kioicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo)

There is a possibility that Secure Room operations may arise, please be available to come to the Kioicho office within one hour for this role.

*You may be required to report to your assigned office based on work instructions. Initially, the office you report to will be your assigned location. Afterward, there is a possibility of reassignment to any business location determined by the company.
*The offices are wheelchair accessible.
*Note on measures against passive smoking: In principle, no smoking indoors (smoking rooms are available).

Work Hours

  • Flextime system: standard work hours 7 hours 45 minutes (no core hours)
    • Start and end times are up to the individual. However, the company's standard working hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m.
  • Shortened working hours system available for childcare and caregiving.

*Some departments may operate on the standard work hours (9:30 a.m. - 6:15 p.m.), while others may have a shift schedule.

Holidays and Leave

  • Days Off: Two days off per week (Saturdays and Sundays*1), national holidays, New Year's holiday (December 29 to January 4)

  • Leave: Paid leave, special paid leave (for condolence, maternity, sick childcare, nursing care, legally-designated communicable disease, etc.), Happy Friday*2, sabbatical leave

*2 When a public holiday falls on a Saturday, employees will be given the previous business day off.
