Engineer Career Talk in Fukuoka: Bridging Global Talent and Opportunities at LY Corporation

Hello! I'm Inouye, a Tech Recruiter at LY Corporation.

On Tuesday, November 19th, we hosted the "Engineer Career Talk in Fukuoka" event specifically for international students. This event brought together engineers with diverse backgrounds from over 40 countries.

As the event organizer, I'm excited to share a recap of the event in this article.

What is the Engineer Career Talk?

The Engineer Career Talk is an event where engineers from LY Corporation share their career perspectives and experiences with students interested in working in Japan.

Our goal is to provide international students considering employment in Japan with insights into the roles of English-speaking employees at LY Corporation and what life is like in Japan.

We hope to inspire attendees to contemplate relocating to and working in Japan. The event is conducted entirely in English, with both participants and staff being English speakers.

Sessions

This time, we featured two engineers, one from the Server-side engineer and another from Machine Learning Engineer, who each led a session.

We have made the slides from each session available, so please take a look.

After each session, we held a Q&A segment, which was lively and filled with continuous questions from the participants.

Hsiao,Yi-Han, Server-Side Engineer.

Terry So, Machine Learning Engineer.

Round Table

Following the sessions, we conducted round table discussions where participants could engage directly with LY Corporation employees.

Topics ranged from the excitement of the job, the challenges of working in Japan, and language barriers.

Students were proactive in asking questions, and employees responded enthusiastically, making for a vibrant discussion at each table.

As a fun twist, participants who asked questions received original LY stickers, and the top three with the most stickers were awarded special prizes.

Conclusion

At LY Corporation, we are committed to creating a supportive environment for English speakers, allowing each individual to thrive by embracing their unique qualities.

Once you have decided to join us, we offer comprehensive support for your move to Japan. This includes relocation assistance, post-arrival support, and even Japanese lessons for those interested.

You won't have to worry about your Japanese proficiency—generally, English is spoken in our working environment, so no Japanese skills are required when you start working with us.

Let's embark on a journey of exciting and innovative work in Japan together. Join us and be part of something amazing!
