Hey there! I'm Yuhi Inouye from the Developer Relations team at LY Corporation.
I recently had the opportunity to speak at INDIAN TECH TALENT, a career event hosted by Fukuoka City highlighting Indian tech professionals ー and I'm excited to share my experience with you!
Fukuoka City is working toward becoming an "Engineer-Friendly City," a place where engineers can gather, thrive, and grow.
As part of this initiative, the "INDIAN TECH TALENT" event was launched to expand the exchange between India and Fukuoka, especially after the establishment of the Indian Consulate in the city.
This event aims to deepen the understanding of the Indian IT industry and Indian engineers among IT companies in Kyushu, —particularly those based in Fukuoka—and to promote the active engagement of global talent.
Event Highlights
The event was held at the newly opened ONE FUKUOKA BLDG, which just opened this April!
The session kicked off with an introduction to Engineer Cafe, followed by a speech from Mayor Takashima of Fukuoka City.
Engineer Cafe is a facility created under the “Engineer-Friendly City Fukuoka” initiative, offering free access to all engineers.
LY Corporation has hosted multiple meetups there, and our engineers also use it as a workspace. LY Corporation has hosted several meetups at the venue, and our engineers regularly use it as a workspace.
In the panel discussion, we covered three themes: companies, engineers, and acceptance systems. We heard directly from members who have actually relocated to Japan from overseas. A key challenge identified for Japanese companies was their ability to communicate in English.
We learned from participants that although many are interested in working or relocating to Japan from India, they often struggle to find companies open to hiring them or accessible information about the city that would help them envision life here. This highlighted the importance of enhancing English-language communication in collaboration with local companies, not just on our own.
Hearing from engineers about the importance of providing detailed support from recruitment to acceptance processes was enlightening. It helps ensure they can live and work with peace of mind.
Of course, our company already has aa supportive environment where English-speaking engineers can thrive!

This event marked an important step in strengthening Fukuoka City's position as an "Engineer-Friendly City." India is globally recognized for producing exceptional IT talent, and this event highlighted Fukuoka City's potential to harness that talent and stimulate the local economy.
As emphasized throughout the INDIAN TECH TALENT event, change doesn't happen overnight.
It's not something a single company or the government can achieve alone.
Here in Fukuoka, as part of our commitment to becoming an Engineer-Friendly City, we aim to bring about change through ongoing collaboration with Fukuoka City, local businesses, and universities.
