Notice and apology regarding an issue that caused some companies’ LINE Notification Messages to be misdelivered

We have confirmed that some LINE Notification Messages* sent from companies to users were erroneously sent to users who were not the intended recipients (hereinafter, "this issue").

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and concern caused to users of LINE Notification Messages and all related business partners. Our company has reviewed the verification process and will further strengthen our checking system to ensure we continue to strive to provide services that can be used with confidence.

This issue has already been resolved, and the affected LINE Notification Messages do not contain information that could identify an individual, such as user-to-user chat content, names, phone numbers, credit card information, or addresses.


* LINE Notification Messages are notifications sent from companies regarding delivery completion, reservation completion, etc. They are delivered when the user consents to the use of this function and has performed SMS authentication on LINE Messenger App.

Period of Occurrence

From Thursday, March 1, 2018 when the service started to Tuesday, November 25, 2025

Conditions for Occurrence

This issue, which caused some LINE Notification Messages to be improperly sent to users who were not the intended recipients, occurred when a user’s phone number was changed and all the following conditions were met:

・The user did not perform the phone number change procedure on LINE Messenger App after canceling the phone number registered on LINE Messenger App.
・The canceled phone number was reassigned to another person, and that person was not using LINE Messenger App.
・More than 180 days had passed since the last SMS authentication, and when receiving a LINE Notification Message caused SMS authentication to be required again, the user performed the procedure to change to a new phone number.

Notice to Affected Users

Due to this issue, there is a possibility that users did not receive messages they were supposed to receive or received unfamiliar messages. If you have any concerns, please contact us as necessary.
