LY Corporation Begins Linkage of LINE and Yahoo! JAPAN Accounts

From October 4, 2023, LY Corporation (hereinafter "LYC") will sequentially begin linking the accounts of LINE and Yahoo! JAPAN (hereinafter "Linkage") if the users wish to do so.

LYC, an integrated company of LINE Corporation, which offers LINE services, and Yahoo Japan Corporation, which offers Yahoo! JAPAN services, began operations on October 1, 2023.

By agreeing to this Linkage and linking data, users can smoothly link information within the services of LYC, for example, sharing their schedules registered in Yahoo! JAPAN Calendar with LINE friends (scheduled in October 2023).

Furthermore, users will be able to enjoy the following services and functions through this Linkage.
- Exclusive LINE Stickers will be available for download (schedued in October 2023)
- Earn 5% PayPay Points any day for all PayPay payments made at Yahoo! JAPAN Shopping (scheduled in December 2023)

Users will also be able to receive notifications of information tailored to their interests and preferences, and centrally manage the registered information for each account. Furthermore, LYC plans to add more convenient and value-added services and functions, such as account linkage with PayPay and various campaigns.

In addition, through this Linkage, members of Yahoo! JAPAN Premium (scheduled to be renamed to LYP Premium on November 29, 2023) will have an unlimited access to over 12 million LINE Stickers and will enjoy the benefits of LINE app such as saving/sharing videos and photographs in their original image quality (scheduled to be available from November 29, 2023 onwards).

LYC will properly manage linked data in accordance with LYC's Privacy Policy^*1 and will use the data for service optimization, development and improvement, and ad distributions.

Please note that users will be able to use the services provided by LYC without opting the Linkage, and the Linkage can be cancelled at any time.

How to link the accounts*2

For smartphones

1. Launch apps and smartphone websites such as LINE, Yahoo! JAPAN and Yahoo! JAPAN Mail.
2. A consent screen for the privacy policy of LYC will be displayed if already logged-in to the app. Tap "Agree"^*2.
3. A screen for linking the accounts will be displayed if already logged-in to both LINE and Yahoo! JAPAN.
4. Check the account information displayed and tap "Link".

For personal computers

1. Access web services such as Yahoo! JAPAN and Yahoo! JAPAN Mail.
2. A consent screen for the privacy policy of LYC will be displayed if already logged-in to Yahoo! JAPAN. Click "Agree"^*2.
3. A screen for linking the accounts will be displayed. Click the button and proceed to Yahoo! JAPAN ID log-in screen.
4. After logging-in to Yahoo! JAPAN, LINE log-in screen will be displayed. Follow the instructions to log-in to LINE and a screen for linking the accounts will be displayed.
*Users will need to have a LINE installed smartphone at hand.
5. Check the account information displayed and click "Link".

LYC has released the "Basic Policy on Data Protection" which defines the basic policy for the handling of data for the entire Group, aiming to realize "User Privacy First." The "Basic Policy on Data Protection" also stipulates that the primary purpose of data use shall be to provide benefits to users, that data shall be used within an appropriate scope, and that data shall be protected and managed under an appropriate security management system. This Linkage will also be implemented according to this policy.

Furthermore, in order to ensure that users can use the services without anxiety, LYC has diligently examined the explanation and method related to this Linkage at the "Expert Panel on Privacy Based on Users' Standpoint"^*3 established by LYC, incorporating the opinions of experts in various fields, while ensuring fairness and objectivity.

Through this Linkage, LYC will properly manage the information entrusted by users and utilize the data to expand and improve the functions of each of the services in an effort to enhance user convenience.

From the LINE app, users can check the information and give their consent by going to Settings then Account.
